About

Adriana picI am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, registered to provide clinical services with the UK Health Professions Council, with over twenty-five years experience.

In my private practice I support individuals, couples and families facing personal, relationship and work challenges. I also run Painless Divorce, a collaborative team that helps divorcing couples separate without contentious antagonism and needing to access the Family Courts.

For over a decade, I taught lawyers dispute resolution skills, communication skills and how to manage burn-out in family law both in the UK and Italy. Currently I am a visiting lecturer at the MMU School of Law. I instigated the accreditation of the current Taught Doctorate Programme in Counselling Psychology with The British Psychological Society. I was head of the Masters in Counselling Psychology course at Manchester University, responsible for developing the course, monitoring standards and lecturing.

For sixteen years, I set up and ran an employee assistance programme, providing consultancy services to senior managers and work-place counselling to employees on a national basis. Clients included leading players in construction, banking, retail and accountancy.

I am also a AXA-PPP and WPA approved medical health care practitioner, with experience of working in the NHS. I created the UK’s professional training programme for Family Planning Clinicians and co-created the Nurse Training Programme for Sexual Health in the North West.  As an expert, I was involved in the setting up of the Stress Management Standards for the Health and Safety Executive. I also supervised a WHO project on anxiety and depression for recently diagnosed cancer patients and their families.

Latterly, I set up a award winning collaborative divorce firm Painless Divorce. It offers more value to a divorcing couple and any family, than either mediation or traditional lawyer only traditional divorces can, by specialising in supporting couples and families through divorce. I am also a member of the Italian collaborative law group. I have been trained by the Australian Collaborative Team specialising in dispute resolution and divorce.

I am a regular media commentator on wide-ranging psychological matters.
